College Cost Projector
College costs increase at about twice the inflation rate. Current
increases have averaged 5% to 8%. This College Cost Projector
estimates how much college will cost when you are
ready to enroll.
In the "Current One-Year Cost" field, enter the total cost of attendance,
including tuition, fees, room and board, books, travel and incidental
expenses.
According to the College Board's
Trends in College
Pricing, the 2007-2008 average total costs (including tuition
and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation and other
expenses as specified in Table 2) were
$13,126 for students attending two-year public colleges,
$17,336 for students attending four-year public colleges and universities, and
$35,374 for students at four-year private colleges and universities.
Out of state students attending public colleges and universities pay
an average total cost of $27,791.
In the "Years until Matriculation" field, enter the number of years
until the student enrolls in college for the first time. A student who
just started the freshman year in high school will matriculate in four
years. A newborn baby will matriculate in approximately 17 years.
